Poker Run: Fun on the lake helping local charities

Let’s see…a whole day of lake fun and supporting local charities, too? No brainer. This year marks the 14th year Russell Marine and the Alexander City Lions Club have joined forces to bring you one of the most enjoyed events on Lake Martin—the Lions Lake Martin Charity Poker Run.

Participants will register and draw their first card at The Ridge Marina, then draw a card at each of the next four stops along the way, hoping to build the high hand and win the $1,700 prize. Subsequent stops include River North Marina, Harbor Pointe Marina, Real Island Marina, and Kowaliga Marina, and the event culminates with the after party at Kowaliga Restaurant with live music by River Dan, food, and more fun.

The assistance this provides to local charities is significant.

“The Alexander City Lions Club is very fortunate to have Russell Marine’s and Russell Lands’ support in putting on this annual event,” said Jeff LaMonica, officer and board member for the Lions Club. “A lot of work goes into it ahead of time, but in a single day, we can raise thousands of dollars for more than a dozen charities right here in the Lake Martin area, and support eyesight preservation through Alabama Lions Sight and UAB’s Callahan Eye Clinic. And, we can have a lot of fun doing it.”

Awarded are 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for Best Hand, Worst Hand, and Best Crew, and each participant will receive an official Poker Run t-shirt, a Lake Martin summer t-shirt, two meal tickets for the party, and one key which may open the treasure chest containing $2,000 in prizes such as Costa del Mar sunglasses, a Hyperlite Skurfer, Hyperlite Party Pad, a Connelly tube, and more!

Registration is $150 per hand. To improve your hand at the end, one additional card may be purchased for a $25 donation at Kowaliga Restaurant between 2pm and 4pm. Participants can preregister at any Russell Marine location. Please complete this registration form and make your check payable to Alexander City Lions Club.

Rules

You must be 18 years or older to enter. Participants under 18 may enter with a parent or guardian.

You will pick up your cards at the following locations and indicated times:
The Ridge Marina – 8:30-11am
River North Marina – 9am-1pm
Harbor Pointe Marina – 10am-2pm
Real Island Marina – 11am-3pm
Kowaliga Marina – 12-3:30pm
Kowaliga Restaurant – 2-4pm

Poker Run and treasure chest winners are announced at Kowaliga Restaurant 4-4:45pm. You must be present to win. Swapping or trading cards is strictly prohibited. Violators will be disqualified. Event management reserves the right to make any rule interpretations and/or decisions regarding this event.
