Sun Festival Band Battle going to be a hot one

Sun Festival is a nine-day jam-packed week of fun in Alexander City which kicks off on Friday, July 14, with a special Friday on the Green at Russell Crossroads. This year’s lineup of events is sure to please everyone. Sun Festival, now in its fifth year, is bigger and better than ever. One of the favorite events of the week is the Friday night Band Battle.

Six up-and-coming bands will battle it out for the opportunity to open for Moon Taxi at the Saturday night concert which is the finale of Sun Festival. The winning band will also receive $1,000. This year’s competitors (and their start times) are:

Madwind – 6:15pm
The Talismen – 7:00pm
Deuce’s Wild – 7:45pm
The Common Phenomenon – 8:30pm
The Rachael Wilson Band – 9:15pm
Airside – 10:00pm

So, bring your blanket and lawn chair and head out to Strand Park to enjoy the show. Each band will perform for 30 minutes. The crowd will get a say in who wins by text voting. Come hungry—Firetruck BBQ will be on-site serving their delicious locally made offerings of barbecue, chicken, brisket and more.

No coolers will be allowed. Drinks, including beer will be for sale within the park.
