Wicker Point Chosen as One of America’s Best New Private Golf Courses by Golf Digest

Published: 01.18.2024

After visiting 55 candidate courses throughout the country, Golf Digest panelists recently selected Wicker Point Golf Club as one of the top three courses in the Best New Private Course category. This year, the highest-scoring new or remodeled courses were honored in four different categories: Best New Public Course, Best New Private Course, Best Renovation and Best Transformation.

Considering this year had the most course openings since 2010, the honor of being chosen as second runner-up is quite a feat for the newly opened Wicker Point Golf Club. In fact, according to Golf Digest, “Both the quality and quantity of courses are up as the 2023 honorees are an extraordinary lot.”

As the only course in Alabama designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, it’s no surprise the architects’ intentional style has already garnered national recognition for Wicker Point.

“Architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw used the sometimes abrupt topography to create strategic slide slopes, speed slots and the occasional hit-and-hope blind shot to keep players alert and thinking,” Golf Digest highlights. View the full article here.

Wicker Point’s nearby sister course Willow Point was also recognized as one of the “Best in State” for Alabama in 2023.
