The Naturalist Cabin at Russell Crossroads
War Eagle!
The two eagles that fly at Auburn University’s football games will visit the Naturalist Cabin at both 12pm and 1pm on Saturday, July 2. Choose either presentation time for the perfect opportunity to view both the Bald Eagle and the Golden Eagle up close and learn about the fascinating natural history of these two species. We will discuss the populations of these birds in Alabama including the dramatic recovery of the Bald Eagle and the recent research on Alabama’s Golden Eagles. The amazing power, speed and strength of these birds will be highlighted, and we will also discuss how they are trained for their stadium flights. This is an excellent photo opportunity! WAR EAGLE! No charge – everyone is welcome!

Let’s Spend Some Time in the Creek!
For almost two hours, we will be in the woods identifying the variety of plant and animal life we discover. In addition to learning from the finds in the forest, we will do some creek work and search for wet residents keeping cool in summer temperatures. This energetic hike will offer both learning and exercise. Insect repellent and sunscreen will be provided – bring your own drinking water and comfortable shoes – preferably some that can get wet! Appropriate for participants ages 5 – 105.
