Saturday, July 2 – 12pm AND 1pm
The Naturalist Cabin at Russell Crossroads

War Eagle!
The two eagles that fly at Auburn University’s football games will visit the Naturalist Cabin at both 12pm and 1pm on Saturday, July 2. Choose either presentation time for the perfect opportunity to view both the Bald Eagle and the Golden Eagle up close and learn about the fascinating natural history of these two species. We will discuss the populations of these birds in Alabama including the dramatic recovery of the Bald Eagle and the recent research on Alabama’s Golden Eagles. The amazing power, speed and strength of these birds will be highlighted, and we will also discuss how they are trained for their stadium flights. This is an excellent photo opportunity! WAR EAGLE! No charge – everyone is welcome!

Wild About Nature
This Fourth of July Weekend, stop into the Naturalist’s Cabin to see an array of Russell Forest artifacts that will give you a glimpse into the wonders of your local woodlands. Naturalist Marianne will be on hand to interpret each item and assist children in learning about how to discover an interest in what’s found in their own backyard.

This interactive display has plenty to touch and learn about! Program includes live animals and is appropriate for all ages. No charge – everyone is welcome!

Let’s Spend Some Time in the Creek!

This energetic hike will offer both learning and exercise. Insect repellent and sunscreen will be provided – bring your own drinking water and comfortable shoes – preferably some that can get wet! Appropriate for participants ages 5 – 105.
