We talk about her all the time. She’s our maven of Russell Forest. But some folks may have never met our Naturalist, Marianne Hudson. Well, we’re about to fix that.

Plus, over the next week or so, Naturalist Marianne takes us into the worlds of reptiles and amphibians and guides a hike in the shade of the Russell Forest.

The Naturalist Cabin at Russell Crossroads

Join the Russell Lands On Lake Martin Naturalist at Russell Crossroads for informative presentations highlighting our native wildlife! Each presentation will compare and contrast reptiles and amphibians. Live specimens will be our guests as we take a close look at these two groupings and their amazing designs. We will discuss where they live, what they eat, and the role they play in the local Russell Forest ecosystem. This lively presentation will inspire you to appreciate the wild dramas being lived out all around us. Program includes live animals and is appropriate for all ages.

No charge – everyone is welcome! If you have questions for Marianne, she can be contacted at 256.496.2710 or [email protected].

A walk in the shade!

This energetic hike will offer both learning and exercise. Insect repellent and sunscreen will be provided – bring your own drinking water and comfortable shoes. Relaxed pace. Appropriate for participants ages 5–105.

ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED! There is a $10 fee for this program. Please contact Naturalist Marianne at 256.496.2710 or [email protected] to inquire and to register.
