Talkin’ Turkey: Two Turkey Events With Russell Lands Naturalist Marianne

Published: 11.07.2013

Join us for two events that are sure to get you in the spirit of Thanksgiving!

On Saturday, November 9 at 2:00 pm, our Naturalist, Marianne, helps us gear up for Thanksgiving and talks a little turkey. Hikers and nature enthusiasts alike are invited to join a guided nature tour of the wild turkey’s habitat in Russell Forest. Learn about the history of turkeys, their diet and life cycle. We’ll visit their preferred roosting sites, and with any luck, we’ll see some wild turkeys in their native habitat!

Guests should be able to stand or walk for at least two hours to participate. Comfortable, seasonally appropriate clothing and shoes recommended. Binoculars and cameras are welcome. A $10 registration fee is requested. Space is limited and reservations are required. Please contact Marianne at 256-496-2710 or [email protected] to inquire and register.

If you’d rather skip the hike and get right to talking and seeing turkey, join Marianne at the Cabin on Saturday, November 9 from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm, or Saturday, November 23 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm for a FREE family-friendly event. We’ll play host to an array of live domestic turkeys – and some items left behind by the Eastern wild turkey will be available to see and touch. Bring the camera and snap a Thanksgiving family portrait with our full-sized turkey mount or a friendly live turkey! For more information, get in touch with Marianne at 256-496-2710 or [email protected].
