RXR Fest to kick off summer this weekend

It’s easy to love everything Lake Martin—early morning sunrises, the evening cry of the whippoorwill and Memorial Day Weekend – the official, unofficial start to summer. For weeks, we have been talking about all the awesome things to do this summer—on dry ground and on the lake. It’s time for it all to begin! This weekend, we get things started with our third annual RXR Fest at Russell Crossroads. It’s a weekend filled with music, a fun time for the family to get together complete with a delicious weekend finale of southern barbecue on the lawn at SpringHouse.

Friday, May 27
I had the chance, over the weekend, to spend some time with the Sweet Tea Trio. They are our first band of the weekend. I promise, you don’t want to miss a note from these girls! They are 19, 19 and 17, and they have a tightness of sound that much older singers never find. They are on stage Friday from 6:30-8pm.

At 8:15, the guys of Union Road take the Town Green stage. I met these guys a few years ago during a Sun Festival Band Battle. They played a Friday On The Green Fourth of July weekend last year and are back with great vocals and excitement during RXR Fest.

Saturday, May 28
Then, on Saturday at 6:30, local favorites The Bank Walkers are back with some great music and their own unique style. I had the chance a couple of weeks ago to run sound for these guys, we had a blast! I really like their sound and all they have to offer. Be sure to be on time as David, Roger, Steve and Brian hit the stage.

At 8:15, from South Carolina, we welcome Atlas Road Crew (ARC). ARC has been playing their soul-filled southern rock for five years and have built one of the most loyal fan bases on the East Coast.

All of the music and fun on Friday and Saturday is FREE! Bring your lawn chairs, a blanket and your cooler, if you like.

Sunday, May 29
Sunday, we move to the lawn at SpringHouse restaurant where Jonathan Bloom will take the stage, and Chef Rob will have prepared a mouth-watering weekend finale barbecue. Tickets for Sunday night include beer and wine, authentic barbecue and live music. They are $55 per person and are available by calling SpringHouse at 256.215.7080. Please join us all weekend for RXR Fest!

It’s summer on Lake Martin, time to enjoy all there is to offer, beginning this weekend with RXR FEST!
