Record Poker Run Will Aid Local Charities

Held Saturday, July 20 for its sixteenth year, the Lions Lake Martin Charity Poker Run set a record for participation and fundraising for charities around Lake Martin. This year, a record 199 hands were played.

The annual event, presented by Russell Marine and benefitting the Alexander City Lions Club, is a Lake Martin favorite and has a loyal following. At the after party at Kowaliga Restaurant, prizes are awarded for Highest Hands, Lowest Hands, and Best Crew. Four Kings took the $1,700 prize for highest hand, and Best Crew honors resulted in a tie between “Dogs at Poker” and “Rub-a-Dub.”

Russell Marine and the Lions Club would like to thank all our 2019 participants for having a great day on the lake and helping local charities. Since its inception, this event has raised more than $250,000.
