Popular free boating classes return in April

Published: 03.01.2017

At Russell Marine, we love introducing new people to the joys of boating and Lake Martin. In early April, we’re hosting two opportunities to either learn from scratch or to sharpen your existing skills. We also love helping you get ready for the summer season, so be sure to save the date for our annual In-Water Boat Show, too.

Boating Basics Course

Saturday, April 1, 8am
The Ridge Marina

Need your boating operator’s license or just want to refresh your boating skills? This free boating education class offered by Russell Marine will be conducted at The Ridge Marina by Officer Frank Cartwright of the Alabama Marine Police. The course is open to anyone age 12 years and up. The class will run about eight hours with a one-hour lunch break. The boating operation license test will be administered after lunch. The course is also open as a refresher to a licensed boat operator. To register for the course, email Officer Cartwright at [email protected]. Space is limited.

“Women on Lake Martin” Boating Class

River North Marina

Russell Marine’s River North Marina, along with the Alabama Marine Police and instructors from Lake Martin Resource Association, will host the Women on Lake Martin boating class on Saturday, April 8. Russell Marine In-Water Boat Show
The Ridge Marina, Lake Martin
April 28-30

It’s springtime at Russell Marine! The grass is turning green, the flowers are blooming, the lake levels are rising, and summer is right around the corner. Spring to us also means it is time for the largest in-water boat show in the Southeast, the In-Water Boat show at The Ridge Marina.

The show will take place Friday, April 28, through Sunday, April 30. We invite you to come out and enjoy a fun day in the sun with the whole family, see the new 2017 boat models, check out all the new gear in the Pro Shop, demo a stand-up paddleboard,  and maybe win some exciting prizes, too. With more than 50 boats on the water available for demos and another 50 boats on display, there’s something to interest every lake lover.

Demo any 2017 model from Sea Ray, Godfrey Pontoons, Nautique, Hurricane, Key West, or Sea-Doo, and you will receive a key that just may unlock a treasure chest filled with great giveaways!
