Now Hear This: Alex City Jazz Fest

Jazz lovers from near and far have made their way to Alexander City for the past 23 years for some of the best, FREE jazz in the country – and it’s time to do it all again this Friday, June 13 at Strand Park in Alex City and Saturday, June 14 at The Amp on Lake Martin.

Friday’s headliners, The Dirty Guv’nahs, are a six-piece band from Knoxville, Tennessee led by the soulful James Trimble, lead guitarist Cozmo Holloway and piano and organ player Kevin Hyfantis. Brothers Justin and Aaron Hoskins are on bass and drums respectively with songwriter Michael Jenkins on the rhythm guitar. In addition to standout festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, and SXSW, they’ve opened up for big-name acts like Wilco, The Black Crowes, Train, Zac Brown Band, and NEEDTOBREATHE. Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect:

Saturday’s headliners, Green River Ordinance, is a Southern rock band hailing from Fort Worth, Texas. Their name is a reference to Green River Ordinances, laws that prohibit door-to-door sales unless the house’s owner gives permission to do so.
