Kowaliga chef, Ban Stewart, will be putting his burger up against 12-15 other chefs’ entries in the Montgomery Burger Bash September 8. The second annual event is judged by the people in attendance and benefits E.A.T. South Downtown Farm in Montgomery.

Chef Ban describes his entry as, “a combination of two of the Sunday Night Burgers we offer at Kowaliga,” and includes two beef patties, cheddar cheese, Mac n’ cheese, candied jalapenos, “Becke’s” Tomato Relish, and lettuce. Only 300 tickets will be available for this year’s benefit competition. To get yours or to stay informed of event developments, visit their event page on Facebook. Tickets will be going on sale very soon.

The E.A.T. South Downtown Farm is the only urban farm in Downtown Montgomery, which lies below Overlook Park and along the Alabama River. The farm is a living classroom for youth and adult education programs focused on growing and eating healthy food. The farm’s vibrant gathering places foster education, sustainability, tourism and economic development for Montgomery and the entire Southeast.

Produce grown at the farm is sold throughout the city to improve access to fresh, healthy food and provide income for E.A.T. South.
