Lake Martin Songwriter’s Festival

It has been exciting to watch this free Lake Martin event grow into one where even top songwriters are begging for an invitation. We hope you’ve made plans to drop in to the 16 venues and to listen to the 28 songwriting artists who will be here from July 26 through July 30.

At 5:30 on Friday, July 28 at Russell Crossroads, Russell Lands will host a 20-and-under songwriter’s competition featuring some of the younger talent in this area. Come cheer on these young artists as they compete for some cool prizes and a chance to open for Adam Hood on Saturday night.

Then at 6:30, the songwriters’ rounds will begin. During this round, acclaimed songwriters Dillon Dixon, Goldpine, Brian White, Karyn Williams, Harper Grace, Kyndal Inskeep, Bridgette Tatum, Emma Zinck, Clare Cunningham, Casey LeVasseur, and Chancie Neal will be on the Green Stage sharing their stories and songs. Then, at the end of the writers’ rounds, five-time Grammy nominee Jeffery Steel will take the stage.

Steel has written songs for big names like Jimmy Buffett, Zac Brown, Keith Urban, Faith Hill and many others! He has been named to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, honored by the Country Music Hall of Fame as a Poet and Prophet, twice awarded BMI Songwriter of the Year and thrice the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) Songwriter of the Year. The Country Music Association has twice awarded him the coveted “Triple Play Award” for three Number One songs in a year.
