Friday On The Green – Russell Crossroads – Russell Craig

May 21, 2021 | 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Russell Craig

Russell was born in Dothan, Alabama with an ear for music and a passion for helping others. As a child, Russell was diagnosed with a rare genetic eye condition known as Retinitis Pigmentosa. He began his musical training when he was just 10. Throughout his career, Russell has been the opening act for country music legends such as the Charlie Daniels Band and other popular Nashville recording acts such as Glen Templeton. His two latest singles, “Rain” and “I’m Over You,” as well as his album “Call Me the Rain” are available on all music streaming apps.

When Russell is not on stage, he is working with other children and adults with disabilities. He currently works at the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) as a vocational evaluator. In May of 2020, Russell earned a Bachelor of Science in Rehab and Disability Studies from Auburn University.

“What I love most about my current situation is that, with the relationships I’ve built at Auburn and at AIDB, I now get to share my music beyond just the general public,” Russell said. “I am now able to perform at places like Camp ASCCA and Camp Abilities and really connect with whole crowds of people with disabilities. I get to bring a smile to their faces and share in a joyful moment with them. I’m so thankful that no matter where I am and no matter what I’m doing, I am in a position to help others and make a difference in my community.”
