Russell Lands’ Newest Neighborhood Nears Completion

This time last year, our contractors were building a bridge and road system to provide access to Russell Lands’ newest waterfront neighborhood, The Willows of Willow Point. This new neighborhood is located on the north side of Pitchford Hollow Slough, adjacent to Willow Point. Demand for The Willows has been impressive with 15 of the 27 homesites selling during the ongoing construction phase.

We are pleased to announce that, in early June, the infrastructure phase of construction will be complete with the landscaping of the main entry. Like its namesake—Willow Point—The Willows will have a beautifully landscaped and gated main entry to greet property owners and their guests as they arrive at this beautiful new lakefront neighborhood.

Property owners will transition from the main entry to their waterfront homes via a lovely “rural” road that winds through the mature trees and over a small bridge flanked by rustic wood guardrails. It is a quaint blend of nature and materials that is reminiscent of a National Park in the Appalachian Mountains.

A new generation of lake homes

Our desire when we started The Willows was to debut the next generation of lake homes. With our experience building and/or selling thousands of lake homes, we have learned how people use them. We are taking our specialized knowledge and creating a new architectural look for Lake Martin.

Several custom homes are already under construction for property owners who have embraced this new direction. In addition to their custom homes, we have two “for sale” homes being built with a fresh new look. The other home, being built by Classic Homes, has been selected by Birmingham Home & Garden magazine for this year’s Inspiration Home event. BH&G has published pictorial features on lake homes in Russell Lands’ neighborhoods in years past. They asked us in the spring of 2018 to consider building the 2019 Inspiration Home in one of our neighborhoods.

Literally, two great ideas presented themselves at the same time. Scott Torode, of Pfeffer Torode Architecture, was nearly finished with our new lake home design. We asked Scott to design a classic that would set a new direction for The Willows. While many of our neighborhoods required walk-out basement designs, The Willows offers a collection of relatively flat lots suited for crawl space homes.

Scott’s proposed plan, we believe, will be an instant classic, and we can’t wait to show it off! The Inspiration Home will be finished in August and featured in Birmingham Home & Garden’s September issue. Then, the home will be held open for tours through the entire month of September with ticket sale proceeds benefitting Children’s Harbor.
