2020 Poker Run Sees Amazing Turnout

Held Saturday, July 18 for its seventeenth year, the Lions Lake Martin Charity Poker Run had excellent participation with 195 hands played and close to $19,000 donated to charities around Lake Martin.

The annual event, presented by Russell Marine and benefitting the Alexander City Lions Club, is a Lake Martin favorite and has a loyal following. Due to COVID-19, and to ensure the safety of all our customers, employees and volunteers, there were a few modifications which didn’t seem to dampen any of the fun! The route was changed, and the final stop was at The Ridge Marina to allow for better social distancing. Participants started at Kowaliga Marina for registration and traveled the lake drawing cards from Real Island Marina, Harbor Pointe Marina, River North Marina and The Ridge Marina. At the Ridge Marina, prizes were awarded for Highest Hands, Lowest Hands, and Best Crew.

A straight flush took the $1,700 prize for highest hand. Best crews went to Cards Against Corona, Christmas in July and Lake Martin Luau.

Russell Marine and the Lions Club would like to thank all our 2020 participants for having a great day on the lake and helping local charities. Since its inception, this event has raised more than $270,000.
